A Tempus on the Tower

Today started out monuments, one of the most famous architects, and the law when it comes to fabulous design Le Corbusier designed a home, the Villa Sovoy. We yeah, we totally went there. This had to be one of my very favorite things we did in Paris. It was so amazing to see this amazing, funky, sleek, modern meka in it’s entirety. I love the way a really intovative design chances the face of architecture/design for life. We as students are still playing off the crisp lines, and use of simple shape to made a complex structure. He was completely genius!
Then it was off to see another designers work, this in Resturant Design. Nicholas Sparks designed the KONG restaurant in down town Paris…as Darin would say, sexy! It was so posh, the definition of eclectic and unique, breaking all the rules…but doing it well! I had a hamburger…18Euro…don’t even tell me how much that is in dollars…luckily it was split! Really just all over extraordinary.
Then a quick stop to see the interior of the Notre Dame Cathedral; the moment…huge ceilings with the massive rose window shining down, and the organ playing. It was so enormous, everything about it was large scale with high adornments. Got a quick crepe, a little nutella one! I love them crepes! And off we go…

Next, was Musee de Orsay, one of my favorite museums in Paris, a great mix of modern and Renaissance pieces, with some great exhibits on Art Novue…one of the most unique and underutilized design styles! The highlight for me was the architecture, a very open, sleek, industrial feel, but very clean and stylish. The ginormous clock’s dark outline mirrored into the interior and set off the magnificent works housed there. There were some beautiful work of Monet…which yes is completely favorite!
Next was on to one of my favorite adventures…the Eiffel tower…up up up we went!
But first let me set this little moment up. We race for the Museum, try to find a metro, give up, hail a cab…hottie by the way…and then get stuck behind this joke of a woman moving the big orange cones she had used to save her parking spot with two little fingers…oh and what to you know there are like three under each…this is a sick matruska doll joke! She was trying to be all dainty…and I’m in the cab, dying… “are you kidding me” ..and yes, the driver thought I was a loony! So we get there…thinking it closed in an hour…but …wrong o! So we get in line, which line we had no idea, and finally get to the front and head up. After seeing several views now I have something to compare…magnificent, absolutely breathtaking to be that high…oh but wait we have one more level to go up…we did notice a bit of lightning in the distance, but didn’t think much of it! Up we went again, and we were on the top floor, which has an inside and then the outside. We head up the stairs and are finally at the very top when out of nowhere…a tempest (this is our word for the freakiest storm, containing, wind, lightening, and water…large amounts of water) all atop the largest structure in Paris.
Beccah: “oh, this is so amazing, is that water I feel”
Malory: “oh my gosh the tower is swaying”
Beccah: “oh gaul seriously calm the heck down…oh my gosh the tower is swaying!”
2 seconds later…we hit the ground, are instantly soaking wet from heat to two along with about 200 other strangers who wanted very badly to get back down to ground level!
