Being July, I didn’t think the weather would be such a problem; it was a tid bit chilly today! So bundled up as much a possible and using the brella to protect from the wind we ventured with our trusty guide to Versaille. Lets first start with the guide…hence the title of the post, so he’s this great Frenchman, with salt and pepper hair, business in the front…oh party in the back, a small braid traveling from the his neck into his jacket…who know’s how far! Ah, Sid! So with our trusty guide in tow…Mirrors, Feathers, gardens galore!
Versaille is the palace build by the French royalty that was later taken over by the French citizens. This building was no expense to much, not idea to lavish, just glamorous. The palace it’s self was lavish with the beautiful hall of mirrors and fabulously decorated rooms with the best of the best painting the mural walls, and carving the elaborate statues, and snapping the royal family in a candid massive painting…ah to by Royal and Rich!
The garden’s were next, acres and acres of lush hunting grounds, with fountains and flowers and ponds and statuaries. It was absolutely breath taking. We had our own little picnic along side the pond in the midst of the gardens of Versaille. This moment, what dreams are made of!
Oh, but were not done there…you walk about a half a mile though the gardens and into the Hamlet of Marie Antonette. More beautiful buildings and rooms and gardens, then walk a little further and your are set in the French country side, the most amazing picturesque pond, complete with lighthouse and Lillie pads. This has to be one of the most unique and spectacular scene yet. It was nice, because at this moment we got to just take it all in, sit around the pond and shalax a bit and try to soak it all up. With as much as we take in everyday it becomes the most beautiful blur of exotic stone, lavish textile, and painted canvas, but just stopping there for that moment I felt what Paris is.
We stopped into our local café next…the café de Eiffel Tower, had me a little quiche, some crème brelete…again…and talked to a hottie traveling student from California! All in a days work…yeah right, were so not done,
Now off we go to the Arch De Triumphof and the Champs Elysees what a great insight into the heart of Paris, atop the triumphant monument seeing all around us the mass of buildings and people, Paris is pompus for a reason, they can be! Of course being us, it started to rain as soon as we ascended the stairs on the way up, but that never keeps a good model down, Tyra would be so disappointed if we didn’t do a little ANTM atop the Arch!
Then we strolled along the famous street; window shopping in Gucci, Prada, you know…just a day in the life of!
With the rain on the streets and the lights of the city glowing, this right here I just wish I could take home with me…that moment, couples snuggled under the umbrella, the Arch shinning in the background, all the stores bussling with shoppers…all reflecting on the slick wet street….Paris!
